Job DescriptionAs a Senior Manager, you will own and manage a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team responsible for solving complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You should play a key role in managing escalations for large and strategic customers and determines the best course of action for the team in the day-to-day activities. Have deep Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Exadata Database Services knowledge and hold the team together. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the critically important stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Apply a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to solve issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Strong people skills, effective communication style and a problem-solving approach to situations are fairly common for this role. This individual has a very firm grasp of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Exadata Database Services and related technologies. You should demonstrate competency and experience in the following key areas: 1) strong administrative & organizational skills, 2) advanced business insight & knowledge of business terminology, 3) experience with human resource development & team management, 4) knowledge of Oracle Cloud services or similar experience, and 5) effective customer & account management expertise. Good working knowledge of the tools, methods & techniques, solid background in Project Management, IT Management, Customer Service, and Cloud/Software Deployments. Demonstrate strong technical specialists & soft-skills, relationship building skills, both internal and external (with Oracle customers).Qualifications:Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or related Engineering fields with over 10 years of experience as a technical contributor, 5 years as manager and overall 20+ years of experienceManagement experience in enterprise softwarePrior development experience and managing a team of engineersProven ability to lead, mentor, coach and develop a team of technical specialistsExcellent communication, decision making and organizational skillsExperience with applications development in large scale distributed applications / database / Cloud servicesProven ability to lead, mentor and develop a team of technical specialistsProven ability to handle conflict management and crucial conversations. The individual performs these duties with a high level of autonomy and reports on operational efficiency, status etc. This position works under limited supervision to apply management-level principles, concepts and methods to identify and resolve a variety of problems within assigned areas of responsibility. This role uses own judgment, requesting assistance as necessary, such as during complex situations including personnel or delivery, issues which might introduce risk to the organization.
