We are seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Level DevOps Engineer, who is not just adept in software development but also experienced in taking projects from conception to production. This role is ideal for someone who breathes technology and is eager to contribute to the open-source community. As a key team member, you'll be instrumental in building and maintaining a cutting-edge community platform that caters to the global scientific community. You will work collaboratively in a team centric environment. This platform is designed to be open, high-performing, scalable, secure, and observable, focusing on simplifying access to petabytes of research data. Our goal is to empower scientists to perform complex computations effortlessly without the hassle or knowledge of building and configuring their own scientific research environment or platform. Your role will involve AWS, employing cloud-native technologies to build and scale our community Kubernetes platform. Your familiarity with open source will help as we open the platform to a global development community. Understanding of automation, repeatability, and observability will be crucial in this journey.

Responsibilities:
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters in the cloud.
- Collaborate with a development team to design, develop, and deploy scalable software solutions.
- Deploy Software using GitOps and Flux.
- Contribute to our open-source software community, as well as leveraging other open-source software community resources.
- Ensure the creation of secure, reusable and efficient IaC using AWS CDK and Terraform.
- Employ automation, repeatability, and observability best practices in all development phases using tools such as statsd, Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB, telegraf, loki, graylog, etc.
- Work with AWS and cloud-native technologies to build and maintain a performance-oriented platform using EKS, Fargate, S3, EC2, among others.
- Facilitate petabytes of data handling for scientific computation.

Requirements:
-US Citizen

-Proficiency in AWS cloud services and Kubernetes (EKS, Fargate)
- Strong experience with GitOps using Flux in Kubernetes
- 2+ years writing Python
- Proficiency using DevSecOps practices in all aspects of a project.
- Familiarity with GitLab, GitHub, and Docker.
- Competence in shell scripting.
- Proven track record with Open Source Software development.
- Knowledge of API integration and development, preferably with Pyramid or FastAPI frameworks.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud software development with a focus on DevSecOps practices.
- Experience and knowledge with open source community projects
- A proven history of taking software projects from conception to production.
- Experience with open source tools for DevOps such as Grafana, telegraf, graylog, Loki, Prometheus, InfluxDB with an understanding of the need to measure everything.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
