Job description

SUMMARY

The Payroll Administrator I is part of the Labor and Payroll team reporting to the Accounting Manager and is a key member of the employee cycle that collaborates with human resources to support and connect our employees with the company. Responsible for the processing of project-based timesheets and multi-state payroll for more than 270 employees, the Payroll Administrator I will ensure employees are paid accurately and federal and state taxes are filed. MELE utilizes complex ERP systems which requires a high level of technical ability and understanding to manage the processes. In addition, they will support the accounting team with month-end close and related reconciliations. The successful candidate will have the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines, multi-task, maintain confidentially and provide best in class customer service to our employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Verify project-based timesheets for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and legal regulations
  • Ensure the system is updated with employee information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, etc
  • Monitor and analyze the timesheet patterns to identify trends and address any inconsistencies or issues
  • Provide training and support to employees on timesheet and leave processes, procedures, and use of timesheet software
  • Post Labor Distribution and Leave Accruals in Deltek
  • Generate and review the monthly PLS report for accuracy
  • Reconcile accrued salaries, benefit and tax accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Backup to Payroll Admin II - Process semi-monthly, multi-state payroll, ensuring continuity in payroll operations
  • Quarterly and Annual payroll data review ensuring accurate tax & compliance filings
  • Research and resolve UKG and Costpoint payroll issues through technical support
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to labor cost accounting, providing documentation, explanations, and support as require
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in related field or 5 years payroll experience
  • Minimum 3 years payroll experience
  • ADP, Paychex, Paycom, UKG or similar payroll System experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Payroll Professional
  • Deltek Costpoint and UKG (UltiPro) system experience
  • Intermediate Excel Skills
  • Self starter that requires minimal supervision
