About the Position The Associate Director of Advancement Data and Reporting is responsible for the database management, data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence to support the advancement and stewardship strategies of Haverford College's Institutional Advancement department. Specifically, the Associate Director supports the design and implementation of effective system configurations, integrations and automations, the development of policies and procedure documentation, and the design and delivery of system training. The Associate Director ensures IA staff maximize their usage of IA and College-wide technology tools with a focus on the design and delivery of system training, and development of user manuals including policy and procedure documentation.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop, distribute, and maintain all Advancement CRM reporting and data analysis, ensuring that it is timely, accurate, and easily accessible to all necessary stakeholders, including fulfilling all data requests by due date or according to the production calendar
Develop and validate statistical models for alumni, parent, and friend engagement for donor and volunteer likelihood
Provide in-depth data analysis to understand constituent behavior, to build segmentation strategies, and to measure effectiveness of solicitation, acquisition, and retention efforts
Coordinate Advancement's participation in peer benchmarking and other surveys including Council for Advance and Support of Education's (CASE), Voluntary Survey of Education, CASE's Alumni Engagement Metrics, Smog papers, and Seven Sibs
Support the Director in determining needs for technology solutions for advancement including conducting research on software and hardware products as needed
Understand, analyze, and document business processes and workflows and determine opportunities for improvement
Support the design and implementation of effective system configurations, integrations, and automations, including but not limited to validating specifications for system design, defining and executing configuration of and business rules for new or reconfigured systems, and developing and implementing user acceptance test plans
Collaborate with Instructional & Information Technology Services (IITS) in the design and development of system improvements for Raiser's Edge and other Advancement Systems
Document the policies and procedures that guide staff on the proper usage of the IA's fundraising and stewardship systems
Serve as point person for IA staff on database utilization, including creating and conducting end-user training and materials, for all fundraising and stewardship systems
Investigate problems, develop recommendations for resolution or escalate to vendors, and keep end-users informed of progress towards resolution
Monitor and analyze performance metrics to ensure end-user satisfaction
Contribute to defining the measures of quality (e.g., completeness, validity, accuracy, reliability, consistency, conformance to business rules, format, etc.) and error thresholds for each key data element, implementing plans to address data quality issues that exceed error thresholds
Develop processes and tools (queries, reports, and inherent diagnostic tools within fundraising systems) that allow data quality to be proactively monitored on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis depending on the criticality of each data element
Other responsibilities as needed
Line of Report: The Associate Director of Advancement Data and Reporting reports to the Director of Advancement Data and Systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
Five years of experience in data analysis, advancement operations, business analysis/intelligence or another similar discipline
Professional Competencies
Proficiency in configuring and utilizing Raiser's Edge (RE and RE NXT) database
Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, reporting, and system configuration including identifying and solving complex business challenges
Highly self-motivated and self-directed
Customer-service orientation with the ability to deftly handle sensitive information
Ability to communicate effectively with internal colleagues and external vendors
Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while having a keen attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple constituent groups including internal colleagues and external vendors
Effective communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into distillable snapshots
Able to demonstrate sensitivity to social, cultural, and economic differences and partner across diverse constituencies while exhibiting sound judgment with confidential information
