Overview: The DOD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for active duty service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of military service. SkillBridge connects service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences. For this position, you must be Skillbridge approved through your Command to participate in this 120-day internship. Upon completion of the DOD SkillBridge Internship, the intern will have gained a realistic preview of the role of a Tax Accountant through job shadowing, mentorship from senior leaders, and hands-on learning. Job Duties This position will report to the Director, Global Tax and require partnering with all levels of business, including Marketing, Corporate Development, Project Management, Technology, Legal, and other Finance teams among others, to help Cvent meet its compliance and reporting obligations, mitigate its risks, and achieve its high-growth goals. The Tax Department is a critical part of our Finance Department that supports and helps our department succeed in serving our internal and external clients. We strive to consistently and effectively, maintain and improve compliance and reporting operations with the highest level of efficiency, business acumen, and critical thinking. The Tax department is looking for a passionate entry level professional who enjoys learning new competencies, can understand concepts quickly, has passion for other's success and is willing to dive into complex matters that impact our internal and external clients. The Tax Accountant is a crucial member of the team needed to support more senior members of the team and ensure all of Cvent's multi-national obligations are met in a timely and accurate fashion. This Program will be a 120-day internship, a total of four months or 16 weeks, during which the Intern will be trained on the core competencies and responsibilities of a Tax Accountant at Cvent. Upon successful completion of the program, Interns will be able to: Demonstrate an understanding of the core competencies of the Tax department (compliance reporting, financial reporting, and accounting for income taxes) Demonstrate an understanding of the core responsibilities of a Tax Accountant Manage various compliance projects in support of senior members of the team using knowledge gained in operations and research In This Role, You Will: (Note this is a list of typical activities. Specific assignments will depend on the timing of the internship as not all activities are carried on at all times of the year.) Tax Compliance Activities - Gain familiarity with Cvent's ERP system and learn to access basic trial balance reports Support Cvent's Manager of State and Local Taxes by completing basic business activity compliance returns such as BPOL and property tax returns Assist in the preparation of Federal, State, and Foreign corporate income tax returns Assist in the drafting of responses to state and local notices received by Cvent Assist in the maintenance of Cvent's tax compliance calendar Gain familiarity with Checkpoint's Online Research Tool to build smart charts and answer compliance questions Learn appropriate accounting for tax transactions, tax payments, and discreet tax matters Assist in responding to TaxHelp enquiries from the business Tax Provision Activities - Gain familiarity with One Source Tax Provision Learn how to create complex Excel macros which allow for the automation of tasks Gain familiarity with building a 'Book to Tax' reconciliation including identifying permanent and temporary differences as well as the computation of deferred balances Gain familiarity with preparing a rate reconciliation for both US and Foreign enterprises Learn how to prepare entries to account for income tax activities and how to perform account reconciliations Audit and Defense Activities - Assist in the preparation of workpapers in support of an income or sales tax audit Learn how to identify risks and potential exposure items Conduct detailed research in support of Cvent's tax positions including reviewing legislation, court cases, Private Letter Rulings, and other relevant documents Ad Hoc Projects - Support the Department's preparation of Transfer Pricing Documentation and computation of transfer pricing adjustments Participate in communications with the Treasury team regarding cash payments of tax obligations Support in the preparation of account reconciliations in the Company's BlackLine product Support the Manager of State and Local taxes in the clean-up and organization of the Departments electronic tax filing system Other projects as they become necessary Here's What You Need: U.S. Military experience as an E4 or above (Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force) ; Military experience within a Finance Occupation preferred but not required Command approval to participate in this internship High school diploma or state-recognized GED required; Associate (or higher) Degree in Accounting is required Mid-level skills in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite, and other standard office applications Strong interpersonal skills, ability to deal with ambiguity, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (spoken and written) Possess a passion for collaboration, an attention to detail, and a desire for growth High customer service, problem-solving, attention to detail, collaboration, and ability to plan out tasks Service / Rating / Job Title ARMY - 36B Financial Management Technician, 36A Financial Manager, 70C Health Services Comptroller NAVY - YN Yeoman, PS Personnel Specialist, 1105 Mess Treasurer MARINES - 3432 Finance Technician, 3451 Financial Management Resource Analyst AIRFORCE - 65F Financial Management, 65A Auditor, 65W Cost Analysis COASTGUARD - CF-FIN10 Finance Specialty, Finance & Supply CWO, Admin - Finance and Accounting Physical Demands We are not able to offer sponsorship for this position.
