Job Title: Communications Associate

FLSA Status: Part-Time Hourly (24 hours per week)

Reports to: Communications Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Dreaming Out Loud s mission is to create economic opportunities for the DC metro region s marginalized community members through building a healthy, equitable food system. Dreaming Out Loud is rebuilding urban, community-based food systems through social enterprise, helping to increase access to healthy food and improving community health, developing low-income entrepreneurs and cooperatives, and training at-risk adult residents for sustainable, family-supporting wages.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Associate will help to implement Dreaming Out Loud s communication programs. Duties will include: updating online media (social media, the website, and video creation); publishing newsletters; and reviewing marketing collateral. The Communications Associate will be responsible for disseminating information developed by the Communications Manager associated with Dreaming Out Loud s mission and vision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media

Schedule social media posts, respond to comments, and engage with content from partners and other organizations within our network.

Update social media templates with new event and program information

Collect data from any ongoing digital campaigns and report that data to the Communications Manager

Support compilation of content for the DOL newsletter

Lead in the collection of content for the weekly grocery order reminder email

Design and disseminate curated content through MailChimp, Canva and other appropriate channels.

Support the production of videos for DOL's events and advocacy programs through production scheduling and mobile phone recording onsite for social media posting.

Assist with the update and distribution of collateral materials, including but not limited to: brochures, flyers, postcards and other swag or marketing materials.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

2 years of social media experience, curation of digital assets, support of content production, and communication data reporting.

Strong analytical skills and experience with MailChimp, Canva, social media analytics, and scheduling platforms like Later or Buffer.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with all stakeholders.

Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

High attention to detail and personal accountability for completing assignments/duties against work deadlines.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

Multi-media production skills are a plus, including familiarity with video and sound editing; and familiarity and experience with design tools including Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Indesign.

Experience with collaborating with outside vendors and external partners for various projects like content collaboration, conference presentations, and event planning

Experience conducting extensive research and fact-checking

COMPENSATION

Hourly Rate: $20-$25/hour, commensurate with experience.

WORK LOCATION

Work duties will primarily be performed at (ex: WeWork, 80 M Street, SE WDC, 20003). Prospective employees may be expected to perform work duties at other locations or sites deemed reasonable by Dreaming Out Loud, Inc. This position is not remote.
