Drug Metabolism Product Specialist

Job description

The Role

We are seeking a Field Sales Specialist for our Drug Metabolism product line. The product specialist will be responsible for sales of instruments, software, and consumable products primarily to pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and contract research organizations involved in drug metabolism studies. You will be responsible for planning your own activities, servicing incoming correspondence, and maintaining relationships with existing clients. The role involves understanding the Drug Metabolism process and gaining sufficient knowledge to become a resource for our customers. You would be required to plan customer visits, arrange meetings, and provide technical presentations and/or demonstrations. The role requires supporting our existing accounts nationwide and looking for new clients and opportunities. When not traveling, you would be based at our corporate headquarters in Chantilly, VA, however, we will also consider home-based office positions. You will therefore need to have initiative, be well presented, a good communicator and have a "hands-on" approach.


Requirements

Essential

Sales skills:

  • 3+ years sales experience
  • Strong business development and sales closing skills
  • Commercial mindset, strongly motivated to work with existing customers to identify new business, with proven relentless pursuit of opportunities
  • Desire to develop customer relationships and maintain their satisfaction
  • Knowledge of HPLC, TLC, GC and/or other laboratory instrumentation

Excellent communication:

  • Influential presentation skills
  • Ability to explain and sell products of a highly technical nature

Independent:

  • Ability to work autonomously while working as a member of a team
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50%+ (driving license is essential)

Organised:

  • Have a high level of self-organisation with a proactive approach to the role


Desirable

  • Strong market knowledge and business insight of industry sector, markets, applications and key trends preferred.
  • Experience of working with pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and contract research organizations
  • Understanding of the Drug Metabolism process
  • Prior laboratory work or proven sales experience to laboratories
  • Bachelor's degree or better in the Life Science disciplines
