Overview:

Axle Informatics is a scientific research and information technology company that offers innovative computer services, informatics, and bioresearch solutions to research centers and healthcare organizations around the globe. With expertise in software engineering, bioinformatics, data science, molecular research, and program management, we focus on developing and applying technological tools and scientific techniques to empower the world of research. We work with some of the top research organizations and facilities in the country including multiple institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Axle is offering this position hybrid.

Our software engineering teams leverage agile development principles, advanced development and design practices, and DevOps automation to rapidly develop and deliver modern, high-quality solutions. As a software development engineer trainee, you'll support development of applications that are helping to advance critical medical research. This experience will give you valuable real-world development skills and experience, while supporting the research community.

The 12-week trainee program provides emerging talent with hands-on experience in all aspects of software development. These include agile/scrum practices, requirements and design, testing automation, application security, and DevOps culture of continuous integration and deployment.



Responsibilities:
  • Learn how to develop modern web applications using modern frameworks such as Angular and Node.js.
  • Utilize agile methods and Scrum to plan and evaluate your work.
  • Work in a team to plan and deliver effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Develop automated unit and integration tests to validate your code and achieve code coverage targets.
  • Demonstrate your creativity in problem solving and design approaches.



Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Computer Science or a related field .
  • Experience coding in one of more languages
  • Basic knowledge of Web development including HTML, HTTP, and JavaScript
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability and desire to learn new things.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, C# etc.

Skills wed love for you to have (but not required):

  • Angular or other JS frameworks
  • SQL or NoSQl databases
  • Automated testing frameworks
  • GitHub or other source code management
  • Application security
