General Statement of Job

The Toledo Zoo is looking for a Technical Infrastructure Engineer. In this role, you will be ensuring the seamless operation of critical operating and revenue-generating infrastructure. This role demands a blend of technical expertise and effective communication to support internal teams and external partners, ultimately driving the success of our zoo operations. This position reports to the Vice President of Technology and is essential for maintaining and optimizing our technological backbone.


Essential Job Functions *Duties will include, but are not limited to the following*


  • Provide comprehensive technical support encompassing computers, phones, and network troubleshooting, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Serve as a frontline responder during technical emergencies, executing rapid response protocols to minimize downtime and mitigate operational disruptions.
  • Lead the management and optimization of the help desk support system, streamlining issue resolution and enhancing user experience.
  • Establish and maintain security measures for networks, computers, and communication services.
  • Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and operation of critical infrastructure, such as servers, network equipment, and endpoints.
  • Provide on-call support as needed to address urgent network infrastructure issues outside of regular business hours, ensuring critical system functionality and operational readiness.
  • Administer, troubleshoot, and manage the telephony system, including setup, user management, and resolving technical issues to ensure seamless communication across the organization.
  • Stay updated on emerging and ongoing cyber security threats, conducting vulnerability scanning and remediation.
  • Design, build, and maintain robust network infrastructure to support a large-scale surveillance camera network, collaborating closely with the security department and camera vendors to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Coordinate the deployment and maintenance of Audio-Visual (AV) systems throughout the zoo, ensuring seamless operation for both internal operations and high-profile events.
  • Administer user accounts via Office 365, Active Directory, and miscellaneous software, including license management to meet departmental needs.
  • Perform additional duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a driver s license and be insurable to drive under the Toledo Zoo Fleet.
  • The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
  • Associate Degree.
  • Minimum of four years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience providing requisite skills and abilities, is required.
  • Preferred certifications include: CompTia A+ or equivalent and Microsoft Desktop Support certification.
  • Hands-on experience in repairing and installing computer equipment and peripherals is essential.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is advantageous: Linux administration, Python scripting, Active Directory, Microsoft Office, Windows 10/11, PowerShell, Office 365 Administration, Dante audio protocol and its use in A/V systems, OBS Studio and streaming platforms, Stripe and POS integrations, Odoo or similar ERP platforms, payment gateways/processors/APIs, Nginx, Apache2, IIS, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Metabase, Redis, Elasticsearch.
