Communications Specialist II

Job description

The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) seeks a Communications Specialist who will help craft and deliver compelling messages to our diverse audience, including municipal securities dealers, advisors, and users of the Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA) website. This role will be responsible for updating and enriching the www.MSRB.org website with engaging graphic and editorial content and they will also manage our corporate social media presence by developing and sharing content, tracking engagement, and analyzing media metrics. Additionally, this key player will plan and produce dynamic social media posts, emails, newsletters, and press releases to bolster the MSRB s external relations efforts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Posts and maintains content on the corporate website, MSRB.org. Serves as company specialist on the website's content management system and trains other staff on the system.
  • Creates and sends public emails and media deliverables to target audiences using email distribution services. Uploads distribution lists and graphics as needed. Creates and maintains email lists and templates.
  • Creates and posts creative and engaging social media content. Finds and creates associated graphics.
  • Creates and sends engaging newsletters using an email distribution service.
  • Develops and executes paid and earned communications plans.
  • Ensures follow through of communications campaigns by regularly reporting metrics for target audiences and the media.
  • Serves as project lead for communications and organizational initiatives, as assigned.
  • Supports production and dissemination of corporate publications and other communications materials.
  • Maintains calendar of outbound communications.
  • Manages archiving of social media posts.

Skills:

  • Experience with website content management systems required. Drupal experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat required.
  • Familiarity with email delivery systems and digital media monitoring platforms is strongly desired.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop is desired.
  • Experience writing for websites and newsletters is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • A qualified candidate should possess a bachelor s degree or three years of corporate communications experience.
  • A background in financial services, or the municipal securities market preferred.
  • The ability to be flexible and handle deadlines is essential.
