About the Position

Montgomery County Government Office of Procurement seeks an Sr. IT Specialist to handle the day-to-day IT operations. This position is ideal for data-driven individuals who are passionate about technology, problem solving, and bringing ideas to fruition. This position will perform a variety of routine IT duties relating to application development, general technical support, project management, and database management.

The ideal candidate will have the following
  • Strong experience in all phases of .NET web applications development lifecycle including identifying business requirements, analyzing, and designing technical solutions, programming front-end and back-end logics, programming reports, testing deliverables, and training the trainer.
  • Experience maintaining and developing system enhancements for existing .NET web applications including the preparation and maintenance of operational documentation.
  • Experience developing and maintaining medium to complex solutions using Power Apps.
  • Expert knowledge of relational databases and creating stored procedures. Ability to develop, troubleshoot, and deploy database T-SQL scripts.
  • Strong experience in SharePoint fundamentals such as sites (classic, modern), apps, audiences, libraries, lists, views, forms, workflows, sub-sites, and web parts.
  • Excellent experience working in collaboration with junior-level IT staff to resolve helpdesk requests and other office-related IT needs.

Fulfill other duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor to fit within the scope of the job classification.

This position may be filled at the following levels :

Sr. IT Specialis t, Grade 28, salary range: $85,544 to $138,535

IT Specialist III , Grade 26, salary range: $78,686 to $126,527

Minimum Qualifications

If filled at the Senior Information Technology Specialist level:

Experience:Five (5) years of professional experience in .NET development with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.

Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Equivalency:An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

If filled at the Information Technology Specialist III:

Experience:Three (3) years of professional experience in .NET development with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.

Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Equivalency:An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

There are no preferred criteria for this position. Procurement will review all applicants for minimum qualifications and eligibility. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be moved to the Eligible List with a rating of qualified and may receive an interview invitation. Selection for Interview will be based on the following:
  1. Knowledge of .NET, VB.NET, HTML, and SQL. Experience in JSON and JavaScript/jQuery is a plus.
  2. Experience working in web frameworks like Bootstrap.
  3. Experience working with Visual Studio IDE for VB.NET development, including familiarity with debugging tools and version control systems.
  4. Knowledge of SQL and experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as SQL Server or Oracle, including database design, querying, and optimization.
  5. Experience working on full software development lifecycle projects, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and maintenance.
