Job Summary

The Membership and Commercial Department Intern will assist in various aspects of CLIA's membership and commercial operations, contributing to the organization's growth and engagement strategies. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in the cruise industry and exposure to a dynamic and fast-paced professional environment.

Essential Job Functions/Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports the Managing Director of Enterprise Development and Senior Vice President, Membership, and Senior, Event Advisor in the development programs for 2025 Calendar year.

Event Coordination:
  • Assist in the planning of member events, conferences, webinars and seminars.
  • Support pre-event and post-event communication efforts.

Marketing and Communication:
  • Assist in creating and distributing marketing materials, newsletters, and promotional content.
  • Support social media management efforts, including content scheduling and engagement tracking.
  • Help maintain the department's web pages and online presence.
  • Support in the preparation on 2025 Membership materials
  • Work with Events team on building sponsorship programs for 2024 - 2025
  • Prepare and assist with planning for Cruise Forward
  • Support all the marketing and communications for Cruise Week 2025 - to launch sales and registration, update website.

Research
  • Assist in gathering data for member engagement metrics and reporting.
  • Support the development of presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.


Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Interest in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry, particularly the cruise sector, is preferred.

Work Environment

This position is based in our DC office as part of a hybrid work environment with 1-2 days in the office and the 3-4 days remote. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
