Clinical Research Assistant

Job description

University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a Clinical Research Technician Assistant to join the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Section. Under Principal Investigator and Clinical Research Manager's supervision, this position will help to support a dynamic clinical research portfolio.

This is a CONTRACTUAL position

Primary Duties:

* Obtains various samples, as necessary, and collects information through interviews, questionnaires, test results, and charts.

* Assists with subject enrollment to ensure that informed consent is properly secured and documented.

* Coordinates study or trial data management with Principal Investigators, including collection, database storage, tracking, analysis, and interpretation of data.

* Prepares study or research-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, case report forms, and institutional review board documents.

* Attends research study or clinical trial related meetings, (tele)conferences, as well as participating in any additional planning and development related activities.

* Coordinates with Division Finance Team as well as Clinical Compliance & Budget Office

* Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in biology, public health, psychology, sociology, nursing, chemistry, or another scientific discipline

Experience: clinical or basic research experience preferred

Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

* Working knowledge of human subjects research, all relevant regulations and policies (federal, state, and for UMB)

* Ability to represent the Division, Section, and its faculty in a professional manner.

* Ability to keep patient information confidential, knowledge of HIPPA regulations.

* Robust PC skills, familiarity with web-based applications and programs, and effective use of applicable technology/systems.

* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

* Ability to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure.

* Ability to work independently.

* Ability to prioritize tasks and projects.

Hiring Range: Commensurate with education and experience
