Position Purpose
Provide a safe and clean environment for students while monitoring them during lunch periods and recess.
General Duties
Assist teachers with the lower 25% of the student body in groups or individually. Assist with putting library books in their proper places. Perform some clerical duties such as copying, answering phone, filing, and sorting/distributing mail. Review conditions of the playground facilities, ensuring weather conditions are good for recess time and no problems exist with the equipment. Review conditions of the cafeteria facilities, ensuring sanitary conditions for lunch periods and no problems exist with the equipment or seating arrangements. Monitor student schedules to ensure the students are on the playground and in the cafeteria at appropriate times, adhering to playground recess time and lunch schedules. Encourage students to maintain expected standards of behavior in the cafeteria and the playground, playing safely and using playground equipment appropriately. Maintain compliance with, and enforce, established discipline policies and procedures. Report students who are performing illegal acts, refusing to comply with policies and procedures, causing physical danger to others or themselves, and are being overtly defiant. Demonstrate and maintain a positive attitude on the playground and in the cafeteria, encouraging students to do the same. Dismiss students at appropriate times. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, required
Must be able to work with students
Knowledge of first aid procedures and practices, preferred
