Job description

What you will do:

In this role, you will be responsible for setting the commercial strategy and business case for investment decisions, driving ambitious life cycle management opportunities into product strategy, and ensuring strategic alignment with launched or peri-launch products. You will also lead and coordinate global commercial evaluations of external in-licensing opportunities that could support the Therapy Area (TA) portfolio strategy.

TA Strategy

* Setting the development and evolution of the brand vision, disease strategy, Therapeutic Project Plan (TPP) and forecast.

* Setting the commercial strategy and business case for investment decisions up to and including Phase 3 investment decision.

* Ensuring the team support and provide strategic commercial input into the product development teams to ensure alignment of product strategy and clinical development plan.

* Driving daring life cycle management opportunities into product strategy.

* Ensuring team are engaging with and ensuring support from senior partners including ensuring strategic alignment with launched or peri-launch products.

* Presentation of the commercial strategy to governance bodies (e.g. TA leadership team, Early and Late stage product committees)

* Aligning inter-dependent strategy and cases (e.g. different development products targeting the same disease)

* Effective management of team annual budgets

* Management of a commercial team of (approximately 2-3, with scope to grow).

Business Development

* Leading and coordinating global commercial evaluations of external in-licensing opportunities that could support the TA portfolio strategy.

* Be responsible for the evaluations and selections of internal early assets from the R&D functions

* Own the selection and internalization of external assets to acquire or early ventures to collaborate with

* Identifying of any appropriate externalization opportunities, with responsibility through to non-binding terms sheets and ensuring it is aligned to TA strategy.

* Collaborating closely with Business Development Operations function

Essential Skills/Experience:

* Bachelor's degree is required in Business, Medical or Life sciences

* Confirmed leader and significant experience in healthcare or biopharma industry, 10 + years.

* Significant and in-depth understanding of commercial strategy, methodologies and tools (product profiling and positioning, forecasting, pricing and reimbursement, market research techniques, competitive intelligence resources)

* Experience of crafting brand strategy whilst the understanding of product profile was incomplete and evolving

* Strong experience in the immunology therapeutic area.

* Detailed 'hands-on' knowledge of building TPPs, generating sales forecasts and cases.

* Detailed understanding of the drug development process and the need for commercial line of sight throughout

* Understanding of future healthcare market challenges

* Exposure to and track record of effective management of senior decision-making/governance bodies

Desirable Skills/Experience:

* An advanced degree (MBA, MSc or PhD)
