Join our Emergency Room team as a Veterinary Assistant! Help aide the treatment of animals by running diagnostic lab tests, taking digital radiographs, holding patients for exams, setting up for surgical procedures, cleaning and sterilizing surgical tools, and much more! Veterinary Assistants will also gain experience working with neurology, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, rehabilitation and ophthalmology cases. It is a great field to develop your skills and there is always something new and exciting to learn in our spacious conference room where we host continuing education for veterinarians, nurses and assistants.

What You'll Get to Do

As an ER Diagnostic Assistant you will commonly:

  • Assess patients upon arrival and prioritize them based on their health status after obtaining vitals
  • Assist ER nurses initiate stabilization treatments such as intravenous catheterization, blood collection, fluid therapy, and oxygen therapy
  • Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans created by the veterinarians
  • Assist ER nurses in collection of samples and analyze blood, urine, fecal and skin samples in our in-house laboratory full of Idexx Analyzers
  • Produce images of soft-tissues, organs and bones safely with digital radiography equipment
  • Assist doctors in bandaging different wounds and lacerations
  • Prepare and sanitize our surgical suites and surgical instruments
