DESCRIPTION
Otterbein University is seeking an Associate Director of Career Development who will be responsible for administering a wide range of programs and career development services that assist students and alumni in making appropriate career decisions, obtaining relevant career information and experience while in college, and facilitating their searches for internships and full-time employment and graduate school. The associate director provides day-to-day leadership and oversight for all career development activities offered through Student Success & Career Development (SSCD). This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Assistant Dean, SSCD.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
General Administrative (40%)
Provide daily, departmental leadership, on career-development related matters
Formulates and implements goals, strategies, and initiatives for the delivery of comprehensive career services that support the priorities of the department and institution.
Evaluates all career-related services periodically and effect changes as required.
Provides oversight for the career-related aspects of the department budget.
Works with faculty and academic departments to create a cooperative relationship between career and academic areas.
Serves on appropriate planning and operational committees on campus. Maintains close working relationships with administrative staff in Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Admission, and Institutional Advancement .
In collaboration with Institutional Research, conducts an annual six-month post-graduation survey to obtain outcomes data for undergraduates.
Manages relationships with vendors for career-related systems and resources.
Compiles statistics related to student/alumni career advising appointments, events and programs, employer activity and assessment data for annual report.
Leads annual career-related assessment efforts related to established learning outcomes.
Oversees the maintenance of, and is main point of contact for, the internship/job board Handshake.
Advising and Programming (40%)
Provides professional career advising in a confidential setting to individual students and alumni needing career development assistance including identification and clarification of personal values and goals, career decision-making, and information on careers, occupations and employers.
Works collaboratively with the Otterbein READY program to assist in the development of events, programs, and fairs related to personal and professional development for students. This includes, but is not limited to: Otterbein READY Career Conference(s), Education Interview Day, etc.
Administers and interprets the Focus2 self-assessment instrument.
Assists students in identifying and seeking internships, part-time work experiences and full-time employment upon graduation.
Provides advice, guidance, and resources to students seeking entrance to graduate school, and critiques graduate school essays and personal statements.
Works collaboratively with the Alumni Office to provide programs and services for alumni.
Conducts career information sessions during orientation and for prospective students and parents.
Supervises the development of all career-related programs and activities.
Speaks on career-related topics in academic classes and for campus organizations as requested.
Critiques rsums, cover letters, and other internship/job search communication materials and facilitates individual practice interviews
Employer Relations (10%)
Assists Assistant Provost & Executive Director in strategy development to forge new employer partnerships and maintains and strengthens existing employer relationships.
Career Resources (10%)
Designs, writes, and/or edits educational and promotional publications for student and employer use.
Revises or updates career-related publications on a regular basis. Communicates pertinent information derived from research, follow-up studies, or current labor market reports to the campus community.
Informs and educates various constituencies on campus about career development issues.
Supervises the distribution of job opening and internship information to appropriate constituents.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling or related field preferred. A minimum of 3 years of related experience with career/employment services practices and programs, academic advising, quality teaching and learning principles, and assessment processes required.
