Technical Project Manager - Principal Engineer

Job description

When you join Verizon

Verizon is one of the world's leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect around the world. We're a human network that reaches across the globe and works behind the scenes. We anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together-lifting up our communities and striving to make an impact to move the world forward. If you're fueled by purpose, and powered by persistence, explore a career with us. Here, you'll discover the rigor it takes to make a difference and the fulfillment that comes with living the #NetworkLife.

At Verizon, we don't wait for the future; we build it! Join the industry leader in Network and Telecommunications Services as we embark on transforming our nation's critical communications infrastructure and the FAA's National Airspace System (NAS) network.

As a member of our FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) team, you will bring your passion, education, and experience to this critical mission and interact directly with decision-makers and government staff who are tasked with ensuring the nation's air transportation system's underlying communications infrastructure is secure and always available. We are hiring skilled and energetic candidates to work alongside the best and brightest employees on a long-term career opportunity to design, build, and operate the next-generation NAS network supporting the busiest, most complex aerospace system in the world.

What you'll be doing...

As a Transition Sr. Project Manager for the FAA FENS Transition, you will work with our internal infrastructure organizations to ensure our tools and interfaces are 'stood up' and ready to go for the FAA by the specific due dates to meet the requirements for FENS Portal, inclusive of bi-directional communications, security, confirmations, access management, and controls. This is a customer alignment position to ensure Verizon's customized applications and infrastructure tools meet client requirements without adding complexity, duplication, or risk. In particular, Incident Management, Service flow fulfillment (single, multipoint), monitoring, alerting, and notifications are enabled correctly to meet performance and compliance requirements. With the Segment approach adopted for IT releases for TDM and IP-based solutions, you will work directly with the system owners and developers to ensure the releases, testing, and acceptance progress according to the approved schedule.

You will participate in various workgroups focusing on USER acceptance and compliance, ensuring Verizon meets the respective test/acceptance and, where applicable, certification requirements based on the agreement/Integrated Master Project Plan.

As the Sr. PM lead for our Custom Applications, OSS Infrastructure Build, Integration - TDM and IP,

you will work directly with our Operations, Design, IT, Program, Network, and Security teams. You will be responsible for reporting, tracking, and reconciling via our Project Management Information System (PMIS), Microsoft Project, weekly status, and monthly progression reports.

You will work directly with the Transition Deputy and the Infrastructure Project Manager to ensure all the parallel workstreams are integrated and critical paths synchronized to ensure overall Project and Program success. PMs for IMS (SWIM), Security, IT, Test & Evaluation, OSS/Domains, NOC/SOC, NAS, MNS, and Logistics (all under our Infrastructure Transition team) will collaborate with you.

What we're looking for...

You're great at bringing people from different functions together to work towards a common goal. Driving projects forward gives you a lot of satisfaction, whatever obstacles you encounter in a rapidly changing environment. You enjoy facilitating and are an excellent communicator, helping everyone perform at their best. Problem-solving is not a negative for you but rather sought as a challenge to seek alternative solutions through the collaboration of new ideas with others.

You'll need to have:Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

Six or more years of progressive project management experience delivering complex solutions.

Experience as a Scrum Master, Project Leader, and/or Project/Program Manager.
