Job Description

We are seeking a Director of Hardware Engineering for a direct hire/permanent role in Germantown, MD. This role will work onsite/in the office Monday- Friday during normal business hours (there are no remote options).

In this role, you will manage a team of professionals that develop and deliver advanced hardware solutions for satellite and terrestrial IP-based communications systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-functional engineering teams to develop and integrate hardware, firmware, software, and network technology to satisfy customer requirements and deliverables
  • Establish objectives, specifications, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and contingency plans to ensure projects are executed effectively
  • Oversee all aspects of the product life cycle (concept, development, integration, qualification, manufacturing, delivery, acceptance, and field support)
  • Coordinate across multiple corporate functions including business, operations, and manufacturing
  • Technical customer interface to ensure the timely and cost-effective accomplishment of contractual commitments
  • Monitor and report progress to management


Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 15+ years of experience with a background in hardware development (digital, microprocessors, DSP/FPGA, RF, antenna, and electronic packaging technologies)
  • 5+ years leading cross functional engineering teams in design and development projects with internal and external customer deliverables


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering
  • Formal project management training (PMP or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of IP-based architectures and systems (satellite, terrestrial, aeronautical, mobile)
