This position will be working with senior technical staff to research, design, develop, integrate, and test advanced wireless RF communications systems. This position can be located in State College or Reston, VA.Responsibilities include:Algorithm and/or software designDevelop C/C++ or equivalent code to interface with developed hardware and associated interfaces (SPI, I2C, etc)Integration of Software Defined Radio (SDR) hardware/software components as appropriateEvaluate/develop communication security protocolsAdditional responsibilities of the principal professional level include:Devise, plan, and lead work on extremely complex communications problems that impact the design success of current products or address broad design issues of future products of technologiesPropose and lead new communications initiatives and guide programs of national significanceAs a recognized communications leader by sponsors and the technical community, present papers, lead symposia and chair committeesThis job will be filled at mulitple levels, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a senior professional level. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred.Experience with the following is required: Computer NetworkingCommunications protocolsOSI stack,UDP/TCP/IPFamiliarity with wireless specifications such as cellular(4G/5G)/WiFi (802.11)Preferred Experience includes:Software designSignal ProcessingFPGA developmentDevelop C/C++ or equivalent code to interface with developed hardware and associated interfaces (SPI, I2C, etc)Integration of Software Defined Radio (SDR) hardware/software componentsEvaluate/develop communication security protocolsMATLAB/LabVIEW modeling and simulationRF principlesEmbedded software/hardwareWireless/cyber securityC-Language programmingARL at Penn State is an integral part of one of the leading research universities in the nation and serves as a University center of excellence in defense science, systems, and technologies with a focus in naval missions and related areas.You will be subject to a government security investigation, and you must be a U.S. citizen to apply.
