**Daylight Warehouse Lead**

**1st Shift Lead Warehouse Associate Freezer**

**Full-Time**

**OVERVIEW:**

Primary responsibilities involve planning and leading the shift operations of assigned facility, providing distribution and warehouse services to a wide variety of regional customers.

**REPORTS TO:**

Warehouse Supervisor, InterChange Cold Storage (Harrisonburg, VA)

**WORK HOURS:**

1st Shift Monday through Friday**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

* Assist with new employee orientation, as per the *New Employee Orientation Checklist*

* Foster positive working relationships with both supervisory/management staff and warehouse associates

* Monitor employee morale and other employment related issues, keeping supervision & management abreast of any items that may be of concern

* Plan and lead warehouse associates with the unloading/loading/processing operations:

+ Ensure adequate staffing and direction

+ Utilize the optimal number of hourly personnel, both InterChange and/or temporary labor, to fulfill service requirements while maximizing productivity

+ Minimize labor costs while providing timely service

* Work with supervision/management to communicate items such as hot shipments or deliveries, product on hold, work schedules, new procedures, new policies, etc.

* Lead warehouse associates in the proper rotation of stock, where applicable

* Assist with periodic inventories, and be prepared to lead warehouse associates in the proper cycle count, counting, and re-counting procedures

* Encourage warehouse associates in the areas of safety, industrial hygiene, general safety, environmental health, and fire safety; identify and reduce risks from potential hazards in the workplace, and assist with compliance to OSHA and other regulatory rules and regulations

* Monitor the maintenance and preventative maintenance of the warehouse and warehouse equipment, communicating any related problems to supervision/management

* Other duties as assigned

**Position 1st Shift Lead Warehouse Associate - Freezer**

**PRIOR WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**

- Any combination of training and experience equivalent to two (2) years of warehousing experience in a moderate size warehouse

- Supervisory experience is helpful but not required

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**

- High school diploma or GED equivalent

- Possession of a valid state drivers license

- Ability to effectively lead warehouse associates in daily activities, safety procedures, and long-term goals

- Ability to analyze pertinent factors related to stock and inventory control

- Comprehensive determine material requirements for specific or specialized projects

- Ability to multitask

**KNOWLEDGE:**

- General knowledge of warehouse shipping, receiving and inventory control procedures for a wide variety of commodities

- Knowledge of commercial shipping methods, terminology, and equipment

- Knowledge of warehousing and distribution

- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local requirements for receipt, storage, issuance and disposal of hazardous materials and similar items requiring special handling

- Knowledge of facilities maintenance
