HOTEL BUSINESS CONSULTANT/ANALYST

Job Description

A hospitality advisory and asset management firm with a focus on hospitality-related income-producing real estate is seeking a business analyst for its Northern VA/Washington, D.C. office. Our clients include hotel owners, commercial developers, operators, lenders, and government agencies.

Job responsibilities include the following:

  • Support senior level advisors and asset managers on a variety of hospitality projects;
  • Assist in conducting market and financial research and analysis on new and existing hospitality/hotel projects;
  • Prepare statistical analyses using Excel in support of various research and findings;
  • Assist in the valuation of hotels and other hospitality-related income-producing real estate;
  • Research and prepare written reports outlining findings of market studies and other consulting reports;
  • Review and analyze hotel financial statements and operating reports against budget, competitive set and industry standards;
  • Maintain data bases of statistics and financial data;
  • Participate in site visits and fieldwork on projects; and
  • Participate in special projects as needed.

Candidate will begin in a support role or with a team, and work towards being responsible for their own projects and assignments. Travel required.

Job Requirements

At a minimum, candidate must have:

  • 4-year college degree, preferably with a focus in hospitality, real estate, business finance, and/or economics;
  • 3 to 4 years experience in hotel operations management;
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and developing customized formulas to determine results;
  • Ability to interpret financial data to recognize changing trends, patterns, and their meaning related to key performance indicators;
  • Basic understanding of real estate valuation methodologies including ROI, IRR and discounted cash flow analysis; and
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written.

The ideal candidate may have started in hotel operations but may have also worked in a corporate environment for either a hospitality advisory/asset management firm, ownership group, or at a hotel brand/management company.

Other attributes include:

  • Highly- motivated, dependable, detail oriented, and professional;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, well spoken, and able to work within a team environment;
  • Ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines;
  • Proactively checking for data accuracy before conveying final work product; and
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex data to drive decision-making.

Base salary + bonus commensurate with experience. Company also offers 401K. Please state salary requirements.
