Job description
Operating Room nurses, also called Perioperative Nurses, provide care for patients before, during, and right after surgeries. They care for surgical patients outside of sterile operating rooms and assist with surgical instruments and equipment inside operating suites.\nDuties of OR (Circulating) nurse (including but not limited to):\n1. Responsible in extending assistance to various type of surgical operation and does other related work in the OR\n2. Responsible for setting up of OR, instruments, and supplies\n3. Observes patient during surgical operation/procedure\n4. Follows hospital policy and safety guidelines\n5. Gathering all supplies needed for the operation\n6. Assuming responsibility of keeping the operating room sterilized\n7. Position and prepare patient on operating table\n8. Ensures that operating on correct patient and site, and the correct procedure is being\nperformed\n9. Monitor patient's vital signs to detect anomalies\n10. Evaluate patient in postoperative phases\n11. Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned\n12. Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol\n13. Will responsibly chart in the EMR system as well as document when pulling/taking\nsupplies from the medication dispensing system\n14. Responsible for working on policies, procedures, Preference Cards and other needed\nprojects as assigned\nOther roles of the RN in the Operating Room:\nScrub RN - Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing\nthem to surgeon, inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery\nRN First Assist - Delivers direct surgical care by assisting surgeons, helps control bleeding,\nprovides wound exposure and sutures patients after the surgery
