**Summary:** Under general supervision this job is responsible for handling and providing expertise in adjusting large, complex personal and commercial lines claims in excess of $100,000, including personal property, business personal property and equipment losses. Provide technical support to LOB staff on complex coverage analysis and damage assessments.

**What Youll Be Doing:**

- Handle and settle assigned large property losses. This includes all causes of loss, as well as damage claims to structures and contents under both personal and commercial lines.

- Initially respond to and continue to assist in the handling of catastrophe losses.

- Consult on complex coverage analysis and provide technical support on damage assessments as required.

- Assist in the development and management of building consultants geographically throughout entire footprint.

- Utilize and manage experts required on claims to ensure the delivery of cost-effective services.

- Pursuant to line of business strategies and good faith claim practices: document all claim activity to support the claim file, including working with SIU and Subrogation partners.

- Create a high level of policyholder satisfaction by complying with established service standards.

- Investigate and evaluate onsite to resolve complex coverage and damage issues to include preparing complete estimates of repair for the covered damages.

- Conduct quality assurance reviews to determine compliance with established standards of quality and productivity.

- Assist regions with Ride-Along training, providing management with behaviors to results feedback, competency reviews, and developmental plans/training for field and inside staff.

- Assist LOB with re-inspections of staff and vendor estimates, providing appropriate feedback for estimate training and development of staff and vendors.

- Conduct technical training on property estimating, claim handling, and policy evaluation.

- Assist in providing technical training to LOB on property policies and programs for commercial and personal lines.

- Review Home Office reportable claims, ensuring proper reporting to reinsurer.

- Provide technical support and claim guidance on all large property losses retained by the field and inside staff.

- Routinely review work performance of field staff, coordinating with local management for implementation of identified training and developmental opportunities.

- Works with Claims Legal and outside defense firms on complex legal matters.

- Operates and maintains company vehicle.

- This position requires the individual to access and inspect all areas of a building or structure which is physically demanding requiring the ability to carry, set up and climb a ladder. Must be able to safely lift up to 40 lbs., walk on roofs, and enter tight spaces (such as attic staircases and entries, crawl spaces, etc.).

- Requires extensive overnight travel 33% to 50% of time.

**What Youll Bring To The Company:**

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience plus 5 years related claims experience preferred.

Professional insurance designation preferred.

Should possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of claims handling, investigative techniques, loss evaluations, negotiations, and settlements.

Must be able to travel upon immediate notice, maintain a multi-case workload, and adjust priorities as needed.

Strong commercial lines skills required.

Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record and the ability to operate and maintain a company vehicle.

State specific adjusters license may be required.
