Responsibilities:

This is a Network Engineering (System Engineering Technical Advisor-SETA) position within the Intelligence Community (IC) client's COMM Network Systems Group (NSG).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide networking background, expertise and valued judgement to collaborate, analyze, recommend, and troubleshoot a broad range of activities affecting network infrastructure services and provisioning.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge and experience with network protocols and such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Multicast, and other protocols to assist in configuring and troubleshooting anomalies.
  • Provide technical expertise with routers including Cisco and Juniper, switches including (Cisco, Juniper, Brocade) and security controls for firewalls including Palo Alto, ASA, Sidewinder and IP tables. Provide network knowledge and experience with cloud computing environments (AWS, VMWare, Azure), high-speed, and big data.
  • Provide project management/oversight of support of supplier efforts on behalf of client interests.
  • Perform technical assessments and recommend architecture for network communications systems from LAN, CAN, to large enterprise size networks.
  • Provide specifications and/or detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Analyze and advise on cost/benefit system development life cycle.
  • Monitor network operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
  • Work as an individual, or in a team environment in planning, implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the networks.
  • Advise and/or direct network maintainers of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
  • Proactive in assessing and making network architecture improvement recommendations to customers that benefit and advance clients networks that are in-line with their visions and goals.
  • Evaluate and report on new communication technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracyoral and written.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5
  • Must possess and have the ability to maintain an active TS/SCI with Poly
  • Bachelors degree preferably in science or engineering
  • 10+ years of experience with Network Engineering including 2 years in a technical advisory capacity
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Desired:

  • Network certification (i.e. CCNA)
  • Experience with network layers 1-3
  • PMP certification, preferred
