We are currently seeking a Senior Mainframe Software Engineer that will be responsible for contributing to design and implementation to add features and resolve bugs by serving as a mentor to the development teams and as an individual contributor.

How You ll Make An Impact

Participates in all parts of the development lifecycle from analysis and design, implementation, peer review, to production delivery and support.Work with engineers to review implementation quality and design choices.Work closely with team to identify technical debt and advocate for system improvements that enable faster delivery and reduced cost to serve.Review and evaluate designs and development activities for compliance with guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.

Technical Skills

:

Mainframe Technologies: Proficiency in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL (Job Control Language), CICS (Customer Information Control System), DB2, VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method), and z/OS.Programming Languages: Strong command over programming languages used in mainframe environments such as COBOL and SQL.Debugging and Troubleshooting: Ability to debug and troubleshoot mainframe applications, including using mainframe debugging and file analysis tools (like Xpeditor, FileAid).Version Control: Understanding of version control systems.Database Management: Proficiency in working with mainframe DB2, including SQL querying and database design principles, and BMC AMI Command Center/Data Studio.Mainframe Development Tools: Familiarity with other development lifecycle management tools specific to mainframes.Performance Tuning and Optimization: Understanding performance bottlenecks in mainframe applications and optimizing code for efficiency.

Attention to Detail: Mainframe development often involves working with large volumes of critical data, requiring a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and reliability.Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and devise effective solutions within the mainframe environment.Team Player: Ability to work well in a team, share knowledge, and contribute positively to collaborative efforts.Documentation Skills: Proficiency in documenting code, processes, and system designs to facilitate understanding and maintenance.Insurance and Claims experience is a plus
