Paradoxum Games is looking for new interns to help us design new, scalable and maintainable infrastructure! As an infrastructure engineering intern, you'll be working on creating new infrastructure that millions of players depend on - working at both a high-level and a low-level simultaneously. Required: Pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering or a related fieldRequired:

Have excellent written / verbal communication skills in EnglishRequired:

Familiar with one or more programming languages such as Lua, JavaScript, Java, C++, or othersRequired:

Experience working with version control software (We use Git)Are curious about new technologies / features, and are willing to implement themHave a passion for both playing and making gamesAre familiar with container orchestration systems (Kubernetes, HashiCorp Nomad, Docker Swarn)Are familiar with containers, container registries, etc (Docker, OCI, etc)Want to learn how the Internet works at a low-levelYou'll be doing:

Writing quality TypeScript code to help reduce technical debt, clean up old code, fixing bugs, documenting features,

and peer reviewing codeCollaborating with cross-disciplinary peersWriting code that runs directly on our Kubernetes cluster, which serves millions of players each monthThoroughly testing and deploying to millions of players with minimal bugsWrite unit and integration tests for the code you writeBonus points:

Have experience working in a self-managed or remote environmentHave experience contributing to the Open Source communityHave existing code snippets of your current work, either on GitHub or provided as files$25 - $35 an hour

Please note that this compensation is for employees based near our headquarters in Reston, VA. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Please note that this job is only currently available to people that are 18+ and are based in the US! While we'd love to hire from outside the US, currently we're not able to at this time.
