We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical or Ocean Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team to support facility upgrades and maintenance-related Engineering efforts at Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD).

We are looking for a Mechanical/Ocean Engineer with 0-5 years of experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a background in ocean or mechanical engineering and a passion for design, controls, and model scale testing. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in MATLAB and LabVIEW, and a solid understanding of statics. Knowledge of fabrication processes is a plus.

This position is in Bethesda, MD and is 100% on-site.

More About the Role:

  • Design and develop engineering solutions for marine and mechanical systems.

  • Perform control system design and analysis.

  • Conduct static analysis of structures and components.

  • Utilize MATLAB and LabVIEW for data acquisition, analysis, and control.

  • Plan and execute model scale testing to validate designs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

  • Prepare technical reports and documentation.

  • Assist in the fabrication and assembly of prototypes and test models.

You ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and LabVIEW.

  • Strong understanding of statics and control systems.

  • Experience with design and model scale testing.

  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques and processes is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

  • Eager to learn, self-starter.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Active Secret Clearance.

  • Master s degree in engineering.

  • Experience working on a DoD site.

  • Experience in the marine or offshore industry.

  • Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.

  • Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) certificate.

  • Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) certificate.

  • Previous LabVIEW projects as example highly encouraged.

  • Hands-on experience with prototype development and testing.
