PHYSICAL THERAPIST

JOB SUMMARY
Provides therapy services to children from birth to 21 years of age and other patients as assigned, to restore function and to prevent disability following disease or injury.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to assure assessment, treatment or care That is appropriate to the developmental/chronological age of the patients served.
Performs evaluation, planning, intervention, consultation and training under the supervision of the Senior Therapist(s) of own discipline, Manager of Rehabilitation Development, or Manager of Feeding Day Program.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirements:
Graduate of an approved professional school fpr Physical Therapy.
Licensure, Certification and Registration:
Licensed to practice or eligible for licensure by the State of Maryland
Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation certification within one month of employment
Work Orientation and Experience:
One clinical affiliation in pediatrics and/or experience with children desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Sensitivity/Tact in dealing with customers
Ability to lift, position, or move patients to and from patient equipment while maintaining patient comfort and safety
Ability to self lift at least 50 lbs.
Computer system/software proficiency
Manual dexterity and mobility
Assessment skills for specific patient populations
Ability to act quickly and decisively in emergency situations
Other Requirements Specific to Assigned Area
Pediatric affiliation preferred.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Supervision Received:
Reports to the Senior Therapist(s) of own discipline, Manager of Rehabilitation Development, or Manager of Feeding Day Program.
CFY candidates receive supervision per American Speech-Language-Hearing Association guidelines.
Supervision Exercised:
May supervise students on clinical affiliations. No supervision exercised by CFY candidates.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Directly interfaces daily with patients, visitors, other health care team members, and other health care staff.

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED
Operates adaptive equipment, physical agents, specialty beds, and equipment as outlined in Rehab Department Manual.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional stress during emergency situations or multiple demands and/or telephone calls. Regular or continuous risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne diseases requiring the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to established protocol.
