Overview:

Stratford nursing faculty members are highly experienced and well regarded members of a professional teaching/learning community . As such, they have an ongoing responsibility to participate in the development, implementation and administration of academic policy and programs while contributing to overall institutional effectiveness and strategic planning. Faculty members are expected to provide systematic, meaningful classroom /clinical instruction that results in measurable student learning, retention and placement. Lastly, Stratford University is a student-centric Institution of Higher Learning.



Functions:
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program;
  • Design, implement, teach, evaluate, and revise the curriculum;
  • Deliver the curriculum as developed by faculty and deans.
  • Develop, update and maintain syllabus based upon the approved curriculum.
  • Introduce hybrid components with weekly threaded discussions.
  • Assist in the selection of course materials, library holdings, instructional equipment and educational resources.
  • Promote student success by engaging students in the learning process.
  • Develop and evaluate student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies within the framework of the controlling institution;
  • Participate in academic advisement and counseling of students;
  • Provide opportunities for student and graduate evaluation of curriculum and teaching and program effectiveness
  • Utilize appropriate library resources and educational technology to enhance student learning.
  • Maintain schedules and instructional integrity through adherence to lesson plans.
  • Remain current in their specialized discipline
  • Participate in universitywide activities for students, faculty and the community such as new student orientation, open houses, graduation exercises, faculty meetings and faculty education programs, including graduation ceremonies.
  • Maintain appropriate records related to students, attendance, grades, and other documents and insure their delivery to the appropriate academic administrator in a timely manner.
  • Attend quarterly faculty meetings.
  • Document actions taken in faculty and committee meetings.

  • Strong commitment to high academic standards, and ability to provide leadership in maintaining and strengthening academic excellence and enhancing the Universitys standing
  • Ability to articulate the role of a School of Nursing in a major university serving the broader community
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing
  • Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally
  • Communicate nursing program academic strategy, goals, and priorities to outside visitors and evaluators.
  • Support the University vision with respect to programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Qualifications:
  • Earned masters degree in nursing
  • Teaching experience in the content area assigned
  • Hold an unencumbered license in Virginia
  • Maintain professional competence through such activities as nursing practice, continuing education programs, conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, research projects, and professional writing
  • Significant experience teaching or precepting adult learners.
  • Record of successful working relationships with internal and external constituencies, including faculty, students, alumni, and the larger professional community
