Position Summary: The part-time Bilingual PRN Family Nurse Practitioner is accountable directly to the Lead Family Nurse Practitioner, the Medical Director, and the Associate Chief Medical Officer within their respective program as assigned. The candidate provides direct, team based clinical care to patients, meeting clinical standards, within the appropriate scope of practice. This is a part-time position based out of our Marie Reed Health Center in NW DC. Bilingual in Spanish or Amharic is required.

Salary - Indeed provides its own estimated salary calculator and is not affiliated with COH's range. The salary for this position starts at $50.48/hr. and is based on experience.

Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct medical care to patients, following approved guidelines
  • Provides virtual medical care to patients, following approved guidelines and refers them for in-person visits as needed
  • Refers patients to specialist and care coordinators as needed
  • Communicates with other providers on issues of patient care
  • Provides care efficiently, including maintaining flow.
  • Cooperates with clinical and office policies and protocols
  • Precepts residents, medical students, nurse provider students, midwifery students, and physician assistant students during their community medicine rotations as agreed upon with supervisor
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential.
  • Maintains the required productivity numbers expected by Community of Hope, as set by the board
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal guidelines
  • Completes and locks all progress notes within 3 business days after patient visit
  • Documents all patient encounters, including face to face, telephone, and electronic communications, in the medical record in a timely fashion
  • Uses all mandatory, structured fields as required in eCW
  • Signs off on all laboratory results, diagnostic imaging results, and referral reports in a timely fashion sharing this information with patients as appropriate
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential.
  • Attends and participates in Health Services' staff meetings and other all-staff meetings as needed.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Family Nurse Practitioner program of study required
  • National Certification as Family Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Licensed to practice in the District of Columbia required. Any providers who are licensed in Maryland who provide a copy of their license and MD CDS to Talent Management are also eligible for MD licensure reimbursement.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Amharic required
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS or BLS for the Healthcare Provider or equivalent) required
  • Commitment to position is required to work on-site. Please note that remote work designations are subject to change or fluctuate at any point in time and the supervisor may require in person learning for a specific amount of time after hire.

Community of Hope is a mission-driven, innovative, and rapidly growing nonprofit. For over 40 years, we have provided healthcare, housing, and supportive services for under-resourced, underserved and people experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, we provide medical, dental, emotional wellness, and care coordination services for the whole family at three locations in DC. Community of Hope also strongly emphasizes maternal and child health, with midwifery practice and the only free-standing birth center in DC. In 2020, Community of Hope provided about 28,400 medical visits, 7,000 dental visits, and 10,000 behavioral health visits for about 11,000 patients.
