Ford Pro is looking for software engineering leaders that embrace Agile-eXtreme Programming principles to deliver innovative software products for Ford Motor Company and our commercial customers.


We are looking for technologists ready to take the next step in their careers and join Pro Tech. We want people who love technology, understand application architecture, and want to coach and mentor other software engineers to greatness. The role entails working as an anchor of anchors for several product teams or as a technical specialist for a group of products. You will solve problems, work with our go-to-market partners and designers, lead software engineers, and deliver amazing software.


Be a general problem solver. Remove barriers. Make work fun for software engineers and solutions better for users. More specifically:




  • Ensure software engineering excellence (e.g., best practices and quality) is achieved within the product line.




  • Collaborate with other technical l eaders to reduce complexity across the portfolio, enhance interoperability between services, and make key design decisions across the portfolio.




  • Provide thought leadership for the development structure, technology, and tools used within Ford Pro.




  • Innovate and operate with an iterative, agile , and user-centric perspective.




  • Manage a team of software engineersandperform a hybrid technical and people leaderrole.




  • Clearly communicate the technology strategy and vision to team members and internal and external stakeholders.




  • Demonstrate software engineering excellence through actively coding, pairing, and performing code and architecture reviews with the software engineers within the product line.Find ways to make metrics work for us. Measure your application's important data, log what's important, report on it, and help the platform measure what's relevant.




  • Automate everything you can.




  • Integrate with systems of record and elevate our data and analytics strategies.




  • Attend Ford Pro Technology councils and cascade relevant information to appropriate members of their product line.




We want someone who loves technology and can lead by example and code with your teams! Your specific language or tech stack of choice isn't important, but if you aren't confident you could pass a pair programming assessment and discussion on how to architect a solution to a complicated technical problem, this likely isn't the role for you. (Hint: there will be a technical/pair programming assessment as well as a behavioral/leadership interview.). As for the other requirements:




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.




  • Experience of 5+ years with progressive responsibilities in software engineering, architecture, and the Agile Framework.




  • Must be able to operationalize and assist teams with abstract technology concepts.




  • Strong demonstrated competencies on cloud and digital platforms.




  • Strong communication, collaborative, and influencing skills.




  • Proven ability to work closely with senior leadership.




  • Strong personal presence and capabilities to resolve technical concerns.




  • Experience with cloud services and platform knowledge.




  • Demonstrated the ability to drive the development of highly technical technology services and capabilities.




  • Experience with lean methodology and extreme programming




  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to drive API economy and solutions




  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to drive highly available, consumer-ready Internet properties and technical platforms.




  • Experience collaborating with engineers, designers, and product owners.




  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style to the audience




  • Ability to work collaboratively and navigate complex decision-making in a rapidly changing environment




  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to teach others.

  • A technical expert who has experience building platforms and underlying services for re-use.




  • Understands business priorities and technical feasibility in order to prioritize the platform backlog, identify dependencies, and manage risks.




  • Ability to jump in and assist product lines and product teams to resolve technical blockers.




  • Focus on delivering product value through reusable services and technologies that other product teams can leverage.




  • Initiates or translates the product road map into manageable product features in the backlog through quarterly scoping sessions.




  • Work hands-on with the product teams to prioritize, plan, and deliver the platform's foundational capabilities.




  • identifies areas within the software delivery process and application ecosystem that require cohesion across the platform and addresses them through common




  • engineering policies.




  • Assess the technology feasibility of the product group roadmaps.




  • Employs and/or champions Agile software processes, culture, best practices, and techniques.




  • Actively works to identify and remove or mitigate risks and blockers to product delivery.




  • Assesses the overall health of the product and prompts key decisions to move it forward.
