JOB TITLE: MachinistDEPARTMENT: Machine ShopREPORTING TO: Machine Shop ManagerPRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:Sets up and operates machines to perform various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the following duties.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences.Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling attachments and work piece on machineInstalls cutting tools in machine spindlesShould be able to operate basic tool room equipment such as Bridgeport, surface grinder, as well as measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators.Ability to measure and document various parts using Micrometers, Calipers, Gage Pins, height gages or other basic measuring toolsAbility to set up and operate CNC machining centers including Tool setting, Part setup including load and unloading various part holders, vises or part fixtures.Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flowStarts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctionsStops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to print specificationsEnters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machiningOperates machine manually to perform non-automated functionsDiscusses errors with supervisor or cell leader to resolve problemsCleans machine, tooling, and partsPerforms daily/weekly machine preventive maintenanceInspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, both dimensional and visual using Libra's quality control system for compliance with requirements for conformity to specified standards.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:High School diploma or GED and 2+ years' experienceKnowledge and experience running CNC controlled machining centersKnowledge of CNC machining programmingSKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:Education regarding machining and/or technical certificatesKnowledge and understanding of basic GD&T tolerancingTeam attitudeGood verbal communication skillsFlexibilityInitiativeLearning orientedProblem solving/analytic skillsSPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE THAT ARE A PLUS:Knowledge and experience running 5 Axis CNC Machining centers such as Hurco, Haas or Doosan 5 Axis machinesKnowledge and experience running precision Jig Grinding or Jig Bore machinesKnowledge and experience running and programming EDM Wire or Sinker MachinesWORK ENVIRONMENT:This position will work in a shop environments.In the shop, you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, machines, and material handling vehicles.
