POSITION SUMMARY

This role comprises the many functions and responsibilities associated with the process of developing and managing enterprise applications. These responsibilities range from the analysis and design to the implementation as well as the ultimate management of software solutions for the organization. This also includes implementation of content management solutions; testing and evaluation of newly developed applications; timely and accurately troubleshooting problems; analyze and recommend solutions. Special projects and technical administrative responsibilities may also be assigned.

  • Remuneration Range: 87-101% ($78k - $91k annually)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Analyzes, plans, develops, tests and documents applications and software solutions to make appropriate recommendations and assists others in testing products for quality assurance.
  • Consults with departmental stakeholders as needed in order to understand their software needs.
  • Develops software solutions using modern development tools including .NET/C#, JavaScript frameworks (Angular/React), SQL database platforms, and common web technologies.
  • Use web design fundamentals to create attractive and efficient user interfaces.
  • Be familiar with version control tools and methodologies (i.e., Git).
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots database and other performance issues.
  • Collaborates with other programmers, database administrators and technical staff in the development and integration of software solutions.
  • Maintains technical documentation, coding standards, database architectures and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Assists in assessing and developing long-term strategic goals for business solutions including standards and guidelines for technical design, based on organizational goals and in conjunction with content owners and department managers.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, and maintains awareness of current trends within the software development industry.
  • Assists in design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Assists with projects management tasks including leading out in client meetings, scheduling, organizing tasks, setting priorities, etc.
  • Maintains broad understanding of OS, hardware, and development tools; research new technologies and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Serves as back-up technical support to General Conference PC end-users as requested (in person, remotely, by telephone, or via e-mail).
  • Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Must maintain a regular and reliable work schedule.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field required. Relevant college courses in Software Development desirable.
  • Relevant successful work experience and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of academic requirements.
  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented web application development frameworks such as .NET, Angular, React, Java, Ruby, etc. required. Appropriate ongoing training and certification will be encouraged.
  • Four or more years of full-time programming experience.
  • Experience and or certifications may be considered in lieu of academic or experience requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Have a good working knowledge of employer's computer environment such as O/S (Windows); Office Suites (MS Office); E-mail programs (MS Outlook); Programming tools and other various off the shelf programs.
  • Ability to assist employees in a professional manner in analyzing and solving a variety of computer hardware and network related issues but primarily in software development and system analysis.
  • Must be friendly, courteous, have good communication skills, be willing to learn, and be self-motivated with ability to complete tasks with little supervision.
  • Comfortable in working directly with users in high pressure situations.
  • Must be fully service oriented with user empowerment a top priority.
  • Strong interpersonal and English language communication skills (in written and verbal form) in providing support for functions performed and to maintain high levels of communication with subordinates, users, and superiors.
