At Nationwide, the largest data modernization program Hercules, is initiated to literally to do that. A rare opportunity to re-imagine the entire insurance data model to enable futuristic BI and advanced analytics capabilities.

Hercules program is at the core of IT and Business strategies to modernize all existing data domains, data models, data pipelines, data lakes and data warehouses into a unified data Lakehouse platform. Hercules is expected to enable Nationwide s digital strategy, improve BI and self-service experience, reduce technology footprint, all while delivering significant ROI.

We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented Senior Data Modeler that will design and develop the logical and physical data-models for Hercules Data Domains. You will build taxonomy across all Property & Casualty (P&C) lines of businesses, including Personal Lines and Commercial Lines, all data domains including quote, policy, claim, sales, activity, assessment, party, telematics and more.

You will be empowered to:

Define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, principles, best practices and related development methodologies for all insurance data domains.Build logical and physical data models to support storage of vast array of insurance products, claims and enable variety of BI and analytics use cases.Be the bridge between near real-time data pipeline development teams working with spark streaming and business data governance teams standardizing the future state data terminology.Engage with other teams across Nationwide to understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions.Work closely with solution architecture teams to implement data strategies and build conceptual data models.Interact with project sponsors, project managers, multiple development teams to define and deliver logical and physical data models for the Hercules data domains.Basic Qualifications:

10 years of Proven work experience in data modeling related projects as a data modeler.Ability to understand data relationships and can design data models that reflects these relationships and facilitates efficient ingestion, processing and consumption of insurance data domains.Excellent problem solving, communication and negotiation skills to be able to explain the benefits of the future state data model and gain alignment among multiple stakeholders.Experience gathering business requirements, understanding and translating business needs into data models, creating logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy of the domain information.Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or similar degree.Preferred Qualifications:

Significant work experience in insurance industry as a data modeler.Experience taking a lead role in architecting, designing and setting standards for data-models.Knowledge and experience working with not only structured data sourced from relational data models but also having the ability to model unstructured and semi-structured data.Experience defining semantic layers to support BI and advanced analytics use cases.Experience to be able to identify and communicate the use cases where generalized modeling is mandatory to future proof the solution and impacts of not doing so.Compensation Grade: G5

As a Data Solution Analyst, you ll translate functional data and analytic requirements into solutions for consumption and use by the respective business or technology request or leveraging a variety of approved technologies. The technologies include (but are not limited to) Paxata, Tableau, Micro strategy, Business Objects, R, or other reporting and visualization solutions being considered for operationalization. You ll also have the opportunity to guide others to leverage self-service techniques for business reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

Prompts reporting and analytic requirements from business and technology requestors to generate visualization or analysis.Implements data requirements, reporting and practices for an assigned area.Creates and executes visualization techniques.Uses moderate visualization and analysis techniques to present findings of data exploration exercises to stakeholders based on requirements gleaned.Maps the flow of data and the business processes and/or technical interfaces which would be created or impacted and recommends solutions/adaptations.Collaborates with others to implement standardized data reporting, analytics, and visualization tools.Recommends and leads change in data analytics, methodologies and tools.Collaborates on profiling, mapping, and modeling tools.Partners with others on projects requiring data visualization.Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Data Leader.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus.

License/Certification/Designation: Certifications are not required but encouraged.

Experience: Five to eight years of relevant experience with data management/ organization/ analytics or practices. Experience in engaging business leaders, data architects and external consultants to identify and fill gaps in analytics environment. Wide experience in using data modeling and data science tools. Experience with self-service analytic techniques. Experience in application of data acquisition and data wrangling. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Data application and practices knowledge. Solid oral and written communication skills. Ability to build relationships, facilitate meetings and influence others.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager s leader and HR Business Partner.
