Operator/Maintenance Technician

Starting Hourly Pay $24.16

Overview

The Operator/Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating the building systems (HVAC, lighting, security etc) using the computerized control system; scheduling and performing preventative maintenance and general maintenance functions in the school district. Also responsible for making arrangements to have maintenance performed in those areas beyond the scope of the person's ability or limitations of tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains the building control system.
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining an operations manual.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment in order to reduce repair costs and maximize the useful life of the equipment.
  • Performs general maintenance service to the school district in order to help maintain the buildings in an efficient and mechanically sound condition.
  • Assists in developing specifications and obtaining quotations on major maintenance modifications of remodeling in the district.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

Key Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of computerized control systems.
  • Minimum 3 years prior experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, mechanical preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):

  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficiency with computers, especially email and building control system
  • Ability to manage time to be efficient in performing assigned tasks

  • The employee may routinely lift and move objects 50 pounds or more.
  • The employee must also have the ability to work indoors and outdoors, including extreme variations in temperatures and to operate varied technologies and equipment.
  • The specific vision requirements of the job include good depth perception and occasionally being able to see objects/persons at a distance.
  • While performing the duties of the job the employee frequently is required to hear conversation in quiet, as well as a noisy environment and be able to tell where a sound is coming from.
  • The employee must be able to communicate to the team in order to give directions.
