JOB PURPOSE:

As a key member of the Howard Forward Team, the Senior Project Manager will serve as a functional lead in implementing and assessing the university's strategic plan. This position will report to the Director of Strategy and Communications in the Office of the Chief Strategy Officer.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:

Responsible for overseeing one or more functions within the Office of the Chief Strategy Officer, including the project management and data and information functions. This role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of these functions but does not include direct supervision of individuals.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Internal contacts include university executives, administrators, faculty, staff and students of the department and the University at large. External contacts include various outside stakeholders such as vendors, other universities, and external agencies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manages all aspects of projects involving other accountable units across the university to implement initiative-level objectives of the university's strategic plan, including collecting information, conducting data analysis, performing research, creating reports and presentations, providing status updates, and proactively engaging with internal and external contacts.
  • Establishes and tracks project objectives, performance metrics, and schedules for new and/or revised projects to ensure the execution and implementation of strategic plan objectives, through initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing processes.
  • Develops and facilitates workshops, meetings, or conferences in support of the university's strategic priorities. Coordinates logistics, scheduling, and participant communications.
  • Maintains and reports on the strategic plan performance metrics regularly, highlighting successes, risks, areas of improvement, and suggested solutions.
  • Ensures the implementation of and fidelity to the university's policies and procedures.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and SharePoint, and other tools such as Tableau

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years of related work experience. 10 years of related work experience may be substituted in lieu of educational qualifications. Project management certification required. Knowledge and application of project management principles and tools.
