Communications Specialist

Job description

The Communications Specialist will provide strong writing, editing, and management skills to support a federal government client in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia. This position is primarily remote; however, we are seeking a candidate local to the Washington DC area who is available to provide occasional on-site support throughout the year. While team collaboration is very necessary, the candidate must also be a self-starter, and be able to independently manage tasks while maintaining open communication with team members and the client.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:* Develop a deep understanding of the issues relevant to clients.* Develop and implement strategic communications plans.* Support social and traditional media outreach, including strategy, content development, and tracking.* Organize, implement, and monitor social media campaigns.* Develop and execute content calendars for social media.* Participate in issue-specific research, writing, and strategy development for various communications.* Develop, draft, and edit communications for distribution to clients and other external audiences.* Develop digital copy (e.g. press releases, e-mails, media advisories, social media content).* Coordinate with designers, writers, digital strategists, and quality assurance staff to develop creative digital assets.* Manage preparation of calls and meeting agendas and facilitate internal follow up for deliverables.* Manage client relationships and day-to-day client needs.* Collaborate with other team members to address client challenges.* Execute other relevant duties as warranted.Qualifications* Must live in the Washington DC area to provide localized support as needed.* Bachelor's degree in communications, Political Science, or related field.* 5+ years of experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and coordination, and project management.* Experience in managing relationships with a federal client.* Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines, focusing on detail and precision in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.* Creative, strategic thinker who is comfortable reading technical language.* Excellent verbal and writing skills.* Exceptional editing skills to ensure deliverables submitted to the client for final approval are error-free.* Demonstrated attention to detail.* Knowledge of social media tools, trends, and applications (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc...).* Experience/interest in working with scientific agencies.* Strong QA/QC skills to ensure correspondence compliance according to the appropriate federal government style guide.* Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills.* Goal-oriented team player focused on adding value, deepening knowledge, and increasing efficiencies.Why Our work Matters:Strategix Management LLC (Strategix) is a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Certified 8(a) and Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) management consulting firm with offices in Washington, DC.
