Overview

The Data & Services team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing the cutting-edge services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base. Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include payments-focused consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, business Test & Learn experimentation, and data-driven information and risk management services.

Mastercards Data & Services Infrastructure Delivery team is responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, backup and support of multiple on-premise and cloud hosted data centers. In this role, you will lead and given given the ownership and resources to solve challenging technical problems. Job Title
Principal Systems Engineer Data & Services

Builds, implements, and maintains support for Mastercard's systems/platforms for performance, efficiency, and capacity by analyzing and testing the facilities, and identifying/diagnosing performance issues (eg, middleware, compute & storage)

Responsibilities
Leads initiatives to build and maintain system and platform technologies and environments, seeking opportunities for improvements and efficiencies

Drives the complete lifecycle management process to design and renew platforms

Manages the deployment of software and hardware solutions that are optimally standardized and system/platform updates to meet project deliverables

Leads holistic platform security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions

Designs and implements process improvement efforts to identify and test opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment

Oversees the resolution of chronic complex problems to prevent future system and platform performance issues

May perform financial planning, forecasting, and budget tracking to reduce total cost of ownership and allocate resources efficiently

Mentors and coaches staff by providing training to develop technical skills and capabilities across the organization

Experiences
Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives, often partnering with internal customers across development verticals, expected to provide project direction and technical expertise
Extensive experience leading the day-to-day global technology domains and sub-domains, driving deliverables and setting priorities and objectives
Experience teaming with leaders in the technical community to derive new solutions and future business network requirements
Experience identifying potential opportunities such as automation optimization, new innovations, and/or reduction in time to deployment
Expected to act as an technical subject matter expert, working to advance core engineering quality by improving existing processes and identifying new tools and technologies

About You

Significant experience (6+ years) with Microsoft Enterprise Products (Windows Server, SQL Server, Active Directory, etc.)
Demonstrate the aptitude and expertise to support existing legacy services while preparing efficient migration strategies to current or more efficient versions of services.
Strong experience in the Deployment/Configuration/Maintenance of the Private/Hybrid Cloud.
Significant experience with cloud technology such as Azure, Azure stack hub or AWS, KVM Hypervisor or HCI solutions.
Experience deploying and supporting Virtual machines an enterprise level/on cloud platform.
Strong desire and prior experience automating common tasks.
Ability to solve complex problems independently and in a team setting.
Competency using industry standard automation/scripting languages (e.g. Powershell, Bash, Python).
Experience with Terraform or Ansible
Background on cloud native tooling and orchestration technologies
Experience collaborating a cross-geography team, coordinating efforts across time zones.
Ability to balance competing tasks and prioritize
Proven ability to communicate with team members effectively
Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
Understanding of working in an agile team environment
Proven ability to build trust and partnership with stakeholders

In line with Mastercards total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
