The Linux System Engineer will work with other Deployment Team colleagues to successfully execute the Americas projects.What does a Linux Systems Engineer do at Fluence?* Complete Linux OS configuration on all project controllers.* Develop project-specific controls configuration file, and deploy controls to project control systems.* Complete initialization and configuration of project DAS (SCADA) systems.* Complete installation and configuration of Fluence Operating Sysem (FOS) UI for each project.* Work with other team members to drive team achievement of KPI-centered goals and objectives.* Develop new tools, implement processes, provide feedback, and work with other stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of project execution.* Complete requisite training and professional development activities to stay abreast of industry state-of-the-art tools and best practices.What does the ideal candidate look like?* Ability to work in a manner consistent with the Fluence values of Leading, Agile, Responsible, and Fun.* 3+ years of Linux operating system experience for system administration, preferably using Ubuntu, Red Hat/Fedora or Debian.* Strong knowledge of Git.* Experience in the following programming languages: Javascript, Ruby.* Strong bash scripting required (Python/Ruby is a plus).* Fundamental understanding of Networking.* Experience with security - hardening of Linux systems.* Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum).* Experience capturing day to day activities in JIRA.* Proven success on challenging projects where you made key contributions while demonstrating ownership, creativity, and initiative.* Competence in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.* BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Mathematics from an accredited university is preferred.* Familiarity with orchestration tools like Salt, Ansibile, or Puppet is preferred.* Experience managing container-based environments is preferred.Fluence IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER and fully subscribes to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity to ensure that all applicants and employees are considered for hire, promotion, and job status without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital or familial status.
