Qualitative Interviewer

Job description

You will need to be a FL resident and able to travel across the state as needed for this role.

PRECISIONheor, a leading health economics and outcomes research consulting firm, is looking to engage on-call qualitative health services research interviewers for a contract position role. The successful candidate(s) would operate as an independent contractor able to work on call per diem, on average, 0-10 hours per week with hours varying based on project lifecycles and interviewer availability.

The successful candidate(s) will collaborate with Scientists across a broad portfolio of sophisticated qualitative health research projects in a multi-level team structure.

A minimum of one year's experience in one or more of the following areas is required: qualitative research interviewing experience. A graduate degree in anthropology, sociology, psychology, or public health or other formal training in qualitative research methods is highly desired.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with project team and external research collaborators to implement the planning and scheduling of interview projects and participants.
  • Conduct in-person interviews with patients in Florida; conduct web-based interviews with patients in Florida for a currently ongoing study.
  • Record interview field notes.
  • Meet regularly with internal research team members, communicating with internal team to provide regular updates on progress of interviews, noticeable key themes, and timelines.
  • May code qualitative data and assist with synthesizing research and contribute to writing up detailed project reports.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative interviews with a diverse group of stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem (e.g. patients, providers, policymakers, etc.)
  • Superior verbal communication and listening skills, with demonstrable previous experience in conducting sensitive research with patients or other populations where sensitive engagement is needed.
  • Current and valid US driver's license; reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of the ethical and human subjects review and data collection processes (CITI human subjects research training is desired)
  • Experience conducting meetings and interviews via Zoom or similar web-based conferencing.
  • Familiarity with qualitative research software (e.g. Dedoose, MAXQDA, NVivo, ATLAS.ti etc.) and qualitative data analysis (thematic analyses, grounded theory, phenomenology, narrative analysis) a plus.
  • An ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and conduct interviews during normal business hours as well as early evening or early morning hours as needed.
  • Excellent organization skills, deadline driven, and very strong attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor and cooperative spirit.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Graduate degree in anthropology, sociology, psychology, health services research or related.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information into written reports; evidence of publication/report writing capability.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or familiar with conducting research within Spanish speaking communities


Precision is required by law in some states or cities to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.
