JOB INFORMATION

Non-exempt; full-time work through the summer; 40 hours per week; anticipated schedule is Monday - Friday; 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.; plus Saturday/Sunday morning hours every other weekend; approximately mid March - late September 2024; early season & late season hours may be less than 40 per week; no benefits
This position will perform routine manual work consisting of a wide variety of parks maintenance and custodial tasks for the Division of Parks and Recreation. Supervision is received from a Park Maintenance Supervisor and/or Parks Maintenance Leader.

  • Litter pick-up and trash removal
  • Park shelter clean-up
  • Planting
  • General grounds maintenance
  • Weeding
  • Raking

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 16 years of age at time of hire

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate and care for assigned tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner
  • Effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to accurately complete inventory forms and other paperwork

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:

  • Previous grounds maintenance work experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly walk; frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work outdoors, in hot (above 100 degree) temperatures, dirty, dusty and noisy environment, and near machinery, and required to wear protective equipment; frequently walk on uneven ground.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time; use various types of hand tools and grounds maintenance equipment (string trimmer, edger, shovel/pick/mattock, tractor/hand lawn mower, etc.); and lift and/or move plantings and various pieces of equipment.

  • Persons under 18 years of age must obtain a work permit before being placed in this job classification

Position is not eligible to receive benefits with exception to the 457 Plan as listed below.
