About the role

Energy Vault is looking for a talented Principal Electricity Market Optimization Engineer to help with productization of suites of analytics tools and intelligent dispatch system. You will join the data science team helping with developing python codes for algorithmic optimization solutions, machine learning, and analytics tools. You will develop python products and later test, evaluate, and debug the energy dispatch and trading optimization platforms. You will be joining an early-stage software team to transform utility-scale storage.

What you will do
    • Develop product level python code for algorithmic optimization solutions and machine learning based analytics tools.
    • Implementing electricity market (mainly CAISO and ERCOT) rules and operational constraints to optimization models.
    • Assisting with formulation of optimal financial and physical trading positions within different market products.
    • Implement price forecasting and/or develop software features to integrate third-party forecast data.
    • Analyze asset operation in short-term power trading and perform back-cast simulations to evaluate alternative trading strategies.


What a qualified candidate should possess
    • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related
    • In-depth knowledge of electricity market fundamentals
    • 3+ years of experience in developing optimization models in python using commercial solvers (CPLEX, Gurobi, Xpress, etc.)
    • 5+ years of experience in Data Science roles
    • 3+ years of experience in python development. Experience in production grade coding is highly desired
    • Experience working with data science teams and agile environment is preferred
    • Experience with time-series data and databases are highly desired
    • Experience in developing machine learning models
    • Independent and capable of working in a fast-paced start-up environment
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as work ethic
