Date Available: 08/05/2024 General Responsibilities: The school counselor's primary role is to help any student in need of academic, social and emotional assistance, and to provide activities and services that will enhance the qualityof the students' school experience. Counselors work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, parents, other support personnel and the community to develop a quality program that best meets the individual student's needs.

Education and Experience:
A master's degree from an approved program in school counseling, or a degree from an accredited college or university and completed an approved school counseling program.
At least one year of successful full-time, academic experience in a professional school position.
Have or be eligible for the Virginia Department of Education endorsement as a school counselor.
Physical Requirements:
Sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls.
Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, fax machine and projection and video devices.
Ability to engage in significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions.
