ECS is seeking a VoIP & Network Engineer to work in our Washington, DC office.

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced VoIP & Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our VoIP infrastructure while also ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our overall network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of both VoIP technologies and traditional networking principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Architecture:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design network architectures meeting operational requirements.
    • Develop comprehensive network diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans.
    • Analyze existing VoIP network and computer systems.
  • Network Implementation:
    • Configure and deploy network hardware and software components, ensuring adherence to best practices.
    • Install network hardware modules, including IP and PBX communication servers.
  • Network Security:
    • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
    • Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security incidents.
    • Analyze and upgrade network security systems and protocols.
  • Network Performance Optimization:
    • Monitor network performance and traffic patterns, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and latency issues.
    • Fine-tune network parameters for optimal efficiency.
  • Network Troubleshooting:
    • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including VoIP network problems.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to address technical challenges.
  • Network Upgrades and Patches:
    • Plan and execute network equipment upgrades and apply security patches to maintain stability and security.
  • Network Monitoring and Management:
    • Implement network monitoring tools for proactive issue detection.
    • Ensure proper configuration, monitoring, and backup of network devices.
  • Network Documentation:
    • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams and configuration settings.
  • Network Capacity Planning:
    • Evaluate capacity requirements and recommend scalable solutions for future growth.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work with other IT teams to integrate network systems with infrastructure components and services.
  • Additional Information:
    • This position is based at the FCC's designated location on site in DC with occasional remote support as needed.
    • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours and participate in an on-call rotation may be required.
Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000

General Description of Benefits

Required Skills:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance to support FCC projects.
  • Bachelor's degree: Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • US citizenship required per contract.
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer and VoIP Engineer.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CompTIA Network , or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), and technologies.
  • Proficiency in network hardware and software, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
  • Detailed understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and LAN/WAN systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.
