Exciting Opportunity: Accounting Manager

About the Role: Join our dynamic team as an Accounting Manager! In this pivotal role, you'll be the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring our accounting practices align with the highest standards. Your expertise will guide the day-to-day financial activities, from managing general ledger transactions to preparing insightful financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the month-end and year-end financial closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and approvals of balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Manage and optimize our accounting software (Sage Intacct), ensuring seamless integration across systems.
  • Oversee the preparation and reconciliation of detailed accounts receivable reports.
  • Manage contracts for services and ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Handle payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
  • Champion the coding and entry of transactions in our financial systems, maintaining GAAP compliance.
  • Develop and enforce finance department policies to uphold internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Generate and present essential financial reports, including aging reports and NSF activity.
  • Manage credit card transactions and reconciliations with precision.
  • Oversee the fixed assets system, including recording and tracking of assets.
  • Implement and refine accounting procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance on complex financial transactions and recommend process improvements.

Collaboration and Supervision:

  • Collaborate closely with our dedicated team members and external partners.
  • Report to the Vice President of Finance & Administration, exercising independent judgment.
  • Supervise and mentor the Accounting Coordinator.

What We're Looking For:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least five years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a non-profit or association with a significant operating budget.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, with expertise in accrual-based accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics - Great Plains is a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in managing financial compliance for grants, including federal grant reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to ethical conduct and a high level of integrity.
  • Experience with databases (Aptify preferred) and a background in non-profit or association settings is advantageous.
