The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) is the only nationally recognized interdisciplinary professional membership organization that represents the interests of the entire medical genetics team including clinical geneticists, clinical laboratory geneticists, and genetic counselors. Together, the ACMG and its members engage in coordinated efforts to improve patient care, ensure optimal reimbursement for genetic service providers, establish standards of care and laboratory policy, and educate members about advances important to their practices.

Job Description

The ClinGen Coordinator will primarily support the efforts of the Associate Project Director and ongoing efforts underway in the Clinical Genome Resource (ClinGen) research program. They will work closely with the current coordinator to assist in managing two ClinGen Clinical Domain Working Groups (CDWGs) (Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Neurodegenerative Disorders) and 15 Expert Panels (EPs) that the Associate Project Director oversees. The successful candidate will be expected to schedule, host, and participate in CDWG and EP meetings and calls.

50% Administrative
  • Schedule and lead calls and teleconferences; attend in-person meetings for CDWGs and EPs, as needed.
  • Keep, transcribe, and post meeting minutes on internal website within one week of the call.
  • Maintain appropriate and up-to-date documentation, webpages, and social media.
  • Maintain ClinGen Group & Personnel Management System information current for members of two CDWGs and EPs.
  • Develop and maintain CDWG curator records.
  • Assist expert panels in publishing variants to ClinVar.

20% Collaboration
  • Learning and implementing the protocols developed by ClinGen, under supervision and training from ClinGen staff.
  • Work with other ClinGen coordinators, national and international collaborators, and other ACMG staff to enable the CDWGs and EPs to uphold the highest standard of curation and expert interpretation of clinically relevant genes and variants.

10% Communication
  • Correspond and follow-up with co-chairs, domain experts, curators and other ClinGen consortium members.
  • Maintain an active roster of the WG and help communicate the group's goals to the public (e.g., regularly maintain the public website with WG products).
  • Assist executive committee members in horizon scanning to accomplish specific WG goals.

10% Coordination
  • Assist in determining timelines for accomplishing assigned work with input from CDWG and EP co-chairs.
  • Draft agendas from co-chairs and provide to WG members.
  • Maintain a schedule for WG task leaders to provide updates to the steering committee.

10% Meetings
  • Assist meeting planners with ClinGen steering committee and work group meetings.
  • Attend monthly ACMG staff meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters in Genetic Counseling preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic genetic concepts and tenets of public health required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills especially as it pertains to leading, coordinating, organizing, and interacting with diverse groups of people.
  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work autonomously and capable of independently identifying and resolving issues.
  • Ability to begin the workday at 8am ET.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of purpose required.
  • Passion for genetics, genetic counseling, or public health preferred.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

This is a largely sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs. Ability to travel domestically occasionally, up to 10%.
