Job description

Gridiron IT is seeking a Senior Accountant local to Herndon VA to work on a Hybrid basis.

You will undertake an array of technical accounting tasks and financial reporting duties, contributing to the smooth running of our financial department.ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting:Oversee accounting matters such as reconciling account balances, tax entries, purchase accounting.
  • Monthly Financial Close Process:Spearhead the monthly financial close process, ensuring all incurred costs are accurately recorded, journal entries and account balances are reviewed, and reports are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Financial Reporting and Assurance:Collaborate with the Financial Leadership to ensure accurate revenue recognition and audit traceability of FFP, T&M and CPFF EAC changes.
  • Project Accounting and Maintenance:Confirm adherence to project accounting guidelines, maintaining an accurate chart of accounts, and recording revenue adjustments related to contract closeouts.
  • Debt & Equity Accounting:Oversee the preparation of debt and equity accounting entries, review recurring entries & schedules for the General Ledger accounting team.
  • Technical Accounting Research:Conduct analytical reviews and technical research related to non-routine transactions, including revenue recognition, software capitalization, lease accounting, and debt accounting.
  • Accounting Policies and Operational Strategies:Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and strategies, ensuring efficient financial operations.
  • Audit Activities Support:Participate in internal and external audits, such as annual CPA audits and routine DCAA audits, preparing necessary documentation and statements.
  • Special Project Assistance:Support management with special projects as assigned, serving as a technical accounting resource for ad-hoc questions and initiatives.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:Oversee the processing and review of vendor invoices, bank statement reconciliations, and recording of cash receipts.
  • Financial Analysis and Coordination:Develop and analyze financial information to evaluate the company's current and future financial status, coordinating with CPAs and other organizations to ensure consistency with Government requirements and accounting procedures.Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; CPA certification is preferred.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks, experience with Deltek Costpoint or Unanet is a plus.
    • Minimum of 5 years' accounting experience, preferably a mix of government contracting and public accounting.
    • Proven expertise in governmental contracting, DCAA auditing compliance, and financial reporting.
    • Mastery of Microsoft Excel is a must.
    • Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Self-motivated individual capable of taking initiative and working with minimal supervision.
    • Professional demeanor and a strong team player.
    • S. Citizenship is required.
