POSITION OVERVIEW

The First Baptist Church of Glenarden has a need for a dynamic full-time Junior Accountant to support the Finance department. Primary duties include bank reconciliation, transactional data entry, administrative duties, etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support to the finance department.
  • Record all bank activity in the general ledger.
  • Perform journal entries relocating expense and revenue.
  • Back up coordination of monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Assist with 1099 creation and distribution.
  • Responsible for entering and reviewing transactions.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Assist with other projects as projects as requested by the accounting manager and CFO.
  • Backs up accounts payable/receivables coordinator.
  • Perform data input for mailed-in weekly tithes & offerings.
  • Answer all inquiries regarding members' discrepancies issues as it relates to online giving and mail-in giving.
  • Reconcile American Express monthly charges.
  • Administrative duties relating to filing, scanning, faxing, mailing and other duties.
  • Assist with the annual audit.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Capture the vision of the ministry, exhibit the core values of First Baptist Church of Glenarden (Seek God First, Evangelism, Excellence, Honor, Integrity, Mentoring), and apply the Word in all aspects of service and duty while serving.

  • Demonstrate the manifestation of spiritual/discipleship maturity in the workplace.

  • Demonstrate Biblical principles day-to-day in the workplace.

  • Treat other employees with respect and compassion while demonstrating a heart to serve all people who worship, work or visit the First Baptist Church of Glenarden.

  • Fulfill the mandate of First Baptist Church of Glenarden to develop dynamic disciples through discipleship, discipline and duplication by attending Sunday Services, Bible Study and Prayer Services.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • At least 3 to 5 years experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, advanced Excel, Microsoft office Suite, NetSuite and NextProcess or using various accounting software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and customer service.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have the able to function successfully in a fast -pasted, high-volume environment, team player self-starter and problem solving.
  • Professional experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Schedule must be flexible to work major events and Sunday services is a must.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
