STRIVE stands for Safety, Teamwork, Responsiveness, Integrity, Value, and Excellence.As a Support Utility Locator , you will be providing project management for assigned projects, support and promote the Virtual Design Consulting (VDC) Department operations while also assisting other departments in their operations. This position will include training in multiple departments to support Geotechnical, Environmental, and Construction Services, while also providing support work for private utility locates required by internal departments and external clients.Job ResponsibilitiesTravel safely to various job sites in a company provided vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, inside/outside upkeep and complete monthly vehicle inspection reports)Coordinate with clients and colleagues to manage and execute private utility locates, concrete scanning, and other similar servicesCoordinate and manage both above and below ground projects involving geophysics, surveying, 3D laser scanning, structures evaluation and moreDevelop and manage client and contractor relationships for assigned projectsMap and model subsurface and building informationConduct Subsurface Utility Engineering ( SUE ) tasksProvide project assistance, support and execution of construction, geotechnical and environmental services as needed to include, but not limited to: boring layout, utility clearing, soil classification, hand augers, bedrock analyses and drillingAssist with project proposals, budget estimates and invoices for assigned projectsAssist with marketing and business development functions for the VDC group including, but not limited to lead generationCommunicate daily with site contractors, other industry professionals, and project managers verbally and electronicallyPrepare accurate and detailed field reports on a daily basisFollow all company safety procedures and policiesOther tasks as assignedAdditional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesRequired Qualifications & SkillsAt least 1-2 years of private utility locating utilizing radio detection, Ground Penetrating Radar ( GPR ), and other geophysical toolsPrior experience in geology field work, geophysics, or civil engineering with knowledge in construction, geotechnical and/or environmental servicesHigh School Diploma or equivalentValid Driver's License with acceptable driving recordAbility to read and interpret construction documents and mapsAbility to accurately complete field-testing paperwork and detailed figuresAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, contractors, and colleaguesAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business memos and proposalsAbility to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manualsKnowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to work proactively and independentlyPreferred Qualifications4-year degree in Geology, Geophysics, Engineering, or similar degree from an accredited universityNational Utility Locating Contractors Association ( NULCA ) AccreditationKnowledge of Subsurface Utility Engineering ( SUE ), ASCE 38-02, ASCE 38-22Experience with utilizing survey equipment, Laser Scanner, Global Navigation Satellite System ( GNSS ), Total StationExperience with utilizing CAD, GIS, and other mapping softwarePrevious experience in a project management roleWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsDays and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday with some weekends, holidays and overtime as neededThis position spends approximately 20% of time in an office/remote environment and 80% in the field, depending on work load and projectsRegularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environmentsField work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing, sitting and repetitive motionsAbility to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)You may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day within the Mid-Atlantic regionSome weekend, overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be requiredAbility to lift up to 80lbs.
